Contact Form 7 is the WordPress form legend, but it's showing its age. The markup-based approach predates modern drag-and-drop, and its failure to save submissions to the database is a serious risk for any business. In 2026, free alternatives like Fluent Forms (free tier) or even WPForms Lite offer dramatically more features. CF7 is included here for completeness, but we would not recommend it for new sites.
